The Transport Industry is a high risk industry increasingly subject to scrutiny by Regulatory Agencies and the need to adopt higher standards in Fleet Management, Load Restraint, Fatigue Management, Environmental Protection and Safety Management. This needs to be achieved within the context of the Chain of Responsibility and competitive freight rates.
The key safety hazards in the transport industry include:
- Manual handling of freight
- Securing loads
- Traffic management - loading/unloading freight
In an increasingly complex logistics and human relations management environment, companies need assistance to manage key transport risks and understand and improve regulatory compliance.
Our experience in the Transport industry
ASI has developed a relationship and provided services to a medium sized transport company (100 vehicles) for a number of years. Management was struggling with Risk Assessments and SOPs to meet customer requirements under contracts. Often the SOPs did not manage all of the safety risks. Our consultant worked with managers to improve their level of understanding and the quality of their documentation.
Our consultant undertook an analysis of the fleet, their safety risks and customer requirements before developing a program which supported the complex process of unloading ships and transporting goods to customer locations. As a result, our client secured a multimillion dollar freight contract.
